Definition

A bean is the seed of several genera of the flowering plant family Fabaceae, which are used as vegetables for human or animal food and classified as legumes. Several beans grow in pods or capsules that develop from flowers. Other legumes include peas, peanuts, and lentils. These beans are available to dry, canned, or frozen.

They differ nutritionally from green beans or wax beans where a person eats the entire pod.

Beans contain amino acids, which are the protein building blocks that the body uses to heal and to make new tissues, such as bone, muscle, hair, skin, and blood. Protein is an essential nutrient.

There are many types of beans. Dried beans need cooking to make them tender enough to eat. Canned and frozen beans are typically ready to eat after warming on the stove or in the microwave. Some of the most popular bean varieties include:

  • lima beans
  • black beans
  • black-eyed peas
  • soybeans
  • kidney beans
  • garbanzo beans
  • navy beans
  • pinto beans
  • red beans

Ok, now you have the definition which you can find on any website. If you want to know more about the beans, go to Medical News Today and Wikipedia. I copied it from there.

Let’s go to the real stuff.

Edible Beans Today Market and What is the future

The global fry beans market is projected to register a CAGR of 4.3% during the forecast period (2021–2026).

Since you can store beans in any dry place for a long period of time, during the pandemic and restriction the demand has increased rapidly. The outbreak made people more aware of their health and their immune system, they started looking into healthy protein alternatives. This demand made it difficult for producers to supply the consumers.

According to market researchers, in 2019 Myanmar was the world’s leading producer of dry beans with 20.2% of the total output. One of the main factors for the highest production of beans is the use of rice lands instead of keeping them empty for the next season. Myanmar’s biggest importer is India followed by China, Singapore, and Pakistan.

Not only Myanmar is exporting beans around the globe, but there are also countries like Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and many more.

Where is this market going? The edible bean market will have a continued rapid growth through the years attributed to the consumers changing their diet to a healthy-consciousness diet. Nowadays consumers are looking for healthy alternative proteins and fats especially in the organic sections.

Most of the new and upcoming manufacturers are either considering or concentrating on organic healthy foods and most of them are using edible beans as they are rich in vitamins, proteins, fats, and fibers. Right now, you can see on the supermarket shelves and e-commerce websites more healthy snacks like chips (or Crips), crackers, biscuits, and many more made from different kinds of edible beans.
