Pistachio Market Growth, Trend, and Forecast to 2025 — Progressive Demand for Healthy Snacks
According to the International Dried Fruits and Nuts Council, the Global Pistachio Market is esteemed to grow to a 31% increase in global production. Turkey, Iran, and the United States hold 95% of the world’s production. Turkey is one of the biggest exporters of pistachios and especially to the United States, despite the considerable production to meet the domestic demand.
Increasing Demand for Healthy Snacks
The pistachios have many advantages, including reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, improved digestion system, immune system, and nervousness, which is also helpful in improving body metabolism. Food producers and chefs, especially in snacks and desserts, are introducing more end products with pistachio as the main ingredient. The changing consumer lifestyle, rapid urbanization, high disposable income, are progressing the demand for on-the-go healthy convenience foods and snacks.
The vegan and highly healthy products are glorified by the consumers of such products. Hence these factors tend to drive the pistachio market globally.
Turkish Pistachio Exports Increased in Q1
Turkey exported $36.8 million worth of pistachios produced in its southeastern Sanliurfa province to 80 countries in the last three months. According to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Association, the figure increased 73% compared to the same period last year. In 2020, the value of pistachio exports was $90.4 million in total.
In terms of amount, Italy was the top importer of the Turkish pistachios with 661,000 tons, followed by Germany 629,000, respectively. Isa Kizildemir, the head of the Sanliurfa Commodity Exchange, said that despite the worldwide pandemic, farmers in the province did not give up production.
Hopefully, by the end of the year, the sector will set a new record, he added.
